our story

Approlia was founded by E. W. “Buck” Lawrimore, a writer, publisher and success consultant with over 4 decades of experience. He was editor and publisher of his high school newspaper, then attended Davidson College while working as a freelance writer for The Charlotte Observer. He was also editor and publisher of his fraternity newspaper and a writer for the College News Bureau. Immediately after graduation he began working as a writer and editor for The Charlotte Observer. About a year later, Davidson asked him to return to serve as Director of the News Bureau. During that time he produced many publications, including the Davidson alumni newspaper. In 1979 he and his wife/partner launched a marketing communications agency which produced numerous brochures, websites and other media. He also wrote and published several books as shown on Our Books page. Today he serves as president of Approlia Publishers, working with a team of associates worldwide.
